The program is designed to serve students who might not otherwise pursue a college education for a variety of reasons, some of which may include: a family history of non-attendance; a lack of financial resources, a lack of parental or adult guidance, homelessness, or under-representation in the school setting.

The Ottawa County Early College Interview Panel will review application materials, interview candidates and their families, and make recommendations for students' participation in the program. The students' local school district pay the college tuition and fees, determines the number of openings, and makes the final decision as to which students are selected for participation.
